Doctors
Robin E Krieger , DVM Dr. Robin Krieger and Dr. John Krieger, II took over Clarkston Animal Medical Center from Dr. Bruce Harlton March 2008.
Dr. Robin Krieger graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Honors degree from Michigan State University in 1997 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Michigan State University in 2001. She then completed a Internship in Small Animal Medicine, Surgery (soft tissue and orthopedics), and Emergency in 2001-2002. Dr. Robin then went into small animal general practice in Redford, MI for the next year before returning to emergency medicine full-time for the next 5 years in Ann Arbor, MI. Her special interests include surgery, both soft tissue and orthopedics, neurology and ophthalmology. She spends most of her free time with their son, Jackson, and 2 wonderful dogs. Matisse, a catahoula (the crazy one), and Mulligan, a wolfhound-malamute mix (the calm one). Other interests include ice hockey (Go wings!), reading, traveling and trying to get a work out in. Dr. Robin is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Associal, American Animal Hospital Association, and Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.
John J Krieger, II , DVM Dr. John Krieger, II graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Michigan State University in 2002. He has worked full-time since graduation in small animal emergency medicine. He regularly worked small animal general medicine relief for southeastern MI clinics. His special interests include surgery, both soft tissue and orthopedics. His hobbies include anything related to playing or watching golf or actually everything sport related, but particularly football. Dr. John is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
Sarah C James , D.V.M. Dr. Sarah James received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1992 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 1997. She joined our staff at Clarkston Animal Medical Center in 1999. She is married with 3 children and has a golden retriever and a cat. She has a special interest in internal medicine. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and outdoor activities.
Jeffrey Fortna , D.V.M. Dr. Fortna received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Cedarville College in 1995 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 2000. He has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery for the past eight years. Since joining our staff in 2006, he has continued to develop his professional interest in ophthalmology, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and shelter medicine. In addition to his part-time position at CAMC, Dr. Fortna is employed at the Oakland County Animal Contral facility in Auburn Hills where he cares for the stray, neglected, and abandoned animals of Oakland County. Dr. Fortna shares his home with one pampered pooch, Cody, an Australian shepherd, and he spends his limited free time enjoying running, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Rhonda Bierl , DVM Rhonda graduated from MSU in 2000. She currently lives in Pontiac with her husband (Adam) and 2 year old son (Alexander). Rhonda has a german shepherd named Raine and a cat named Virginia. Her interests include soft tissue surgery and ultrasound.
Bruce Harlton , DVM Dr. Harlton officially retired from Clarkston Animal Medical Center February 2008. He is enjoying traveling up north and spending time with his first grandson.
Dr. Harlton founded North Oaks Animal Clinic in 1976. The facility was upgraded and expanded in 1992 and the name Clarkston Animal Medical Center was adopted. In 2001, the facility was again upgraded and expanded.
Management
Becky Taylor , Practice Manager Becky has been a member of Clarkston Animal Medical Center for over 16 years. She has 2 dogs, Lucy and Ben (golden retrievers) and cats, Charlie, Kirby and Winnie. Becky enjoys spending time with her children and grandchild.
Technicians
Judy Walzak , L.V.T. Judy has been a licensed veterinary technician since 1985. Before joining Clarkston Animal Medical Center in 1995, she worked for 13 years as an emergency veterinary technician. Judy has beena licensed wildlife rehabilitator through the DNR since 1992 and a member of the Red Cross on call disaster animal rescue since 1997. Judy has special interest in flyball, obedience animal training and competition, racketball, clogging, kayaking and the theater.
Judy's family consists of her husband Jody, 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 beautiful granddaughters, 1 handsome grandson, Allie (a golden ranked #1 in the US and Canada for points in flyball), Rerun (a jack russell/rat terrier mix ranked #3 in the US in Obediance), Puff (the bearded dragon), 2 Russian tortises (Boris and Sonya) and 1 Greek tortise (Buster). All three tortises are over 50 years old.
Beth Lowery , LVT Beth graduated in May of 2002 from Macomb Community College with an associates degree in veterinary technology. She did her internship here at Clarkston Animal Medical Center in January of 2002 and joined our team in March of 2002. Beth has worked in the veterinary field for 15 years. Beth enjoys watching Tigers baseball.
Beth's family consists of: Her husband Bill; Bella and Diesel, both mastiffs (the drool machines).
Becky Howells , L.V.T. Becky graduated as a licensed veterinary technician from Macomb Community College in 1997. Becky has 2 dogs, Leroy (a golden retriever) and Griffen (a mix) and 1 cat, Bob. She has 3 children: Brendan, Justin, and Dylan. She has been working at CAMC since June 2006. Becky enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.
Karen Yeomans Karen graduated from Oakland University in the fall of 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She has worked in veterinary clinics since the fall of 1999 and joined the CAMC crew in December of 2006. Karen is now back in school to pursue a degree in photography. Karen lives in Clarkston with her husband John, dog Shiloh, and two cats Murphy and Nigel. She loves spending time outdoors, traveling, and cooking.
Kellie Shepherd Kellie is a technician that has worked at CAMC since the spring of 2005. Kellie was originally a client of the clinic before becoming an employee. She has a 19 year old son, Matthew. She has 2 calico cats, Gizzy and Bisquit. She is an avid Nascar fan.
Reception
Kelly Bryant , Receptionist Kelly joined Clarkston Animal Medical Center as a receptionist in 2000. She has a son and daughter in oregon and 2 grandchildren. She also has 5 cats.
Joanne Curran , Receptionist Joanne hails originally from Rochester, MI. After 34 years in personnel at General Motors, she now works at Clarkston Animal Medical Center as a part time receptionist. She has always had a great love for all animals, especially dogs and horses. She thoroughly enjoys working with all our patients.
Mary Wichman , Receptionist Mary has been a member of CAMC for over 12 years. Mary and her husband have 3 children. She has a golden retriever mix and 2 cats.
Shayla Smith , Receptionist Shayla has 1 dog, 2 cats, and enjoys greeting the clients and patients as a receptionist at CAMC. She is married and has 2 children.
Arlene Lucas Arlene has been a member of CAMC since 2006. She has 3 dogs and 2 cats. She also works with the greyhound rescue group REGAP.
Lauren Franco Lauren joined the Clarkston Animal Medical Family in 2007. Lauren is currently working part time and attending college while raising her beautiful daughter.
